Most people ride an ebike for simple reasons. Commuting feels less stressful. You can ride farther and easier. But there’s one question many riders still ask themselves:

That’s exactly why Velotric created Pulse Mode™ — a new smart training feature designed to help riders train more effectively without making riding feel complicated or overly technical.

Instead of guessing how hard you should ride, Pulse Mode™ uses your real-time heart rate to automatically adjust motor assist while you ride. The result is a more consistent, personalized workout that still feels smooth, natural, and fun.

What Is Pulse Mode™?

Pulse Mode™ is Velotric's intelligent heart rate training system. It connects to your heart rate monitor in real time, reads your BPM as you ride, and automatically adjusts the motor assist to keep you inside a specific training zone — no manual tweaking, no guesswork, no staring at your wrist every thirty seconds.

Instead of controlling your speed, Velotric's ebike controls your effort. You decide how hard you want to work today. The motor figures out the rest.

If your heart rate drops below your target zone, the bike reduces motor assist slightly so you naturally pedal harder. If your heart rate gets too high, the bike increases assist to help you recover and stay in the ideal range. You just ride.

The Five Heart Rate Zones

Pulse Mode™ divides training into five zones based on your maximum heart rate. Each zone targets a different fitness goal. The numbers below use the default profile — add your age, height, and weight in the Velotric app to unlock personalized zone ranges.

Default zone ranges are calculated using a standard maximum heart rate formula. Update your personal profile in the Velotric app for zones customized to your actual age and fitness data.

For Apple Watch users, simply install the Velotric Watch App and connect it through the Velotric App on your iPhone. Once connected, choose your target training zone and start riding.

How It Works

Connect Your Heart Rate Device

Pair a compatible heart rate source via the Velotric app — Apple Watch, Garmin with heart rate broadcast enabled, or the Velotric heart rate strap included with the bike.

Pick Your Target Zone

Open Pulse Mode™ in the Velotric app and select your zone for today. Whether it's a relaxed Zone 2 fat-burn ride or a Zone 4 threshold session, just tap and go.

Ride — The Motor Adjusts As You Ride

As you pedal, the system watches your BPM every second. If your heart rate drifts out of the target zone, the motor adjusts instantly.

The system monitors your heart rate continuously and adjusts the motor assist in response:

Heart Rate Too Low (Green)

Motor assist decreases. You'll need to pedal harder — which is the point.

Heart Rate On Target (Blue)

Assist holds steady. You're in the sweet spot. Keep the rhythm going.

🟠

Heart Rate Too High (Orange)

Motor assist increases. The bike carries more load so you can recover.

New to structured training? Build up gradually over a few weeks before pushing into Zone 4 or 5.

Fill in Your Profile

Add your age, height, and weight in the Velotric app to unlock personalized heart rate zones instead of the default baseline.

Pedal Assist Only

Pulse Mode™ runs exclusively in Pedal Assist mode — throttle is disabled while active. Maximum speed is capped at 28 mph.

Pair with SensorSwap™

Use Torque mode on hilly or varied terrain for the most natural feel. Switch to Cadence on flat roads for smooth cruising.

Auto-Off on Restart

Pulse Mode™ resets when you power down the bike. You'll choose a zone fresh each ride.
