Velotric Tempo Ebike

I've had the Tempo for a couple of weeks now. The weather in Wisconsin hasn't been cooperating, but I finally got out on a couple of long rides. I own the Summit 1, which I love, but this bike is so convenient. Light enough to throw into the back of the car and go. The new controller and the built in tech is awesome. I've been using the heartrate monitor and the Pulse mode to get me to work at maintaining my fitness heartrate. The added attachment points make it fun to customize the bike. All-in-all a fun ebike! I purchased this bike as a casual 60+ year old rail trail rider. My wife and I go riding on trails in New England. I wanted a bike that would make it easier to go up some of the long slopes that the rail trails have. Unfortunately, I was not able to convince my wife to buy one, so we just went out on our first rail trail, one with electric, one without. She with a mountain bike with fairly narrow tires and center ridge for ease of riding and I with the Tempo. For the first several miles I actually turned off the Tempo and rode is as a regular bike because it was mostly a gradual downhill. It still coasted better than my wife's mountain bike (Trek 840). I was really impressed with the way it rode when off. It coasted really well too. If you ever run out of batteries, don't worry, it really acts like a normal bike. The other important this is that we could use the existing bike rack since the Tempo was so light (with battery out). I've included a picture of the bike on a standard bike rake. No issues with it that way at all! The black cover is because I have the battery out and wanted to protect the connections. Overall, I couldn't be happier with it. The screen is really easy to use and everything worked great right out of the box. I had four minor issues with the building of the bike. The written instructions don't mention how to pull out the little plastic piece between the hydraulic brakes, you just have to pull outward fairly firmly. The second was the…

This is our second Velotric bike. As with our first (a Discover 2...), the fit and finish is exceptional. I'm pretty particular about these kinds of things and the build quality far exceeded my expectations.

The high-step Tempo frame is rigid and light and makes it very flickable with excellent handling. Its lightness and responsiveness provides an exceptionally sporty ride, even when fitted with fenders and a rack and bags.

The new cockpit display is plenty bright and big enough to provide detailed performance data. Using the app or display, you can customize the ride to support various assist and power delivery modes. One nice thing is that the "levels" of assist, e.g. 1 through 5, have been eliminated and the controller will just deliver power based on your personalized settings for one of four modes, e.g., Eco, Trail, Sport, or Boost aka Prius, Jeep, Porsche, Top Fuel Dragster...☺️

In our family, the Discover with both the front and rear rack with bags is the do it all hauler, built for comfort and capacity. The Tempo is light, fast, and a ton of fun - When equipped with a rack and bags it's a great commuter and can handle the milk run while hauling a$$!

One downside of the fast and fit ethos of the Tempo design is that the rear stay-mounted taillights are substantially blocked by accessory racks and panniers/bags. While the rear lights and turn signals will generally be visible at night, their placement reduces their safety lighting utility during the day.
