City riding rarely follows one fixed rhythm. Some mornings call for a more efficient commute. On the way home, you may prefer a calmer pace with more support. By the weekend, you might want the bike to feel more like a traditional bicycle and respond more closely to your own effort.

The route can change too. A longer stretch of open road may allow for a steadier pace, while neighborhood streets, shared paths and busier areas often call for slower, more controlled riding.

That means the real question isn't simply how powerful or fast an ebike can be. It's whether the bike can still feel right when your schedule, route, energy level and riding habits change.

Discover 3 is designed around that flexibility. Riders can adjust the assisted speed, level of motor support, pedaling response and power delivery separately, creating a ride that can feel more efficient, relaxed, natural or supportive when needed.

More Than One Way to Adjust the Ride

Many ebikes allow riders to raise or lower the pedal-assist level. Discover 3 provides more control over the individual elements that shape how the bike feels.

These settings don't all control the same part of the ride. For example, you can choose a slower pace while maintaining enough support to reduce effort. Alternatively, you can select a more natural pedaling response while using a higher permitted speed setting for a longer commute.

This separation allows Discover 3 to adapt to different riding rhythms instead of relying on a single low-to-high assistance scale.

Available speed settings and permitted riding behavior depend on local ebike laws and the rules of the road, path or trail being used. Riders are responsible for selecting an appropriate setting for their location and riding conditions.

When the Morning Calls for a More Efficient Ride

A time-sensitive commute isn't just about reaching a higher speed. Discover 3 uses a 750W internal-rotor hub motor that produces up to 1,100W of peak power and 75Nm of torque. This provides the output needed for confident starts, steady climbing and stronger assistance when the ride demands more from both the bike and rider.

Where local regulations and riding conditions permit, pedal assistance can be configured up to 28 mph. Riders can also choose from five riding modes (Eco, Tour, Trail, Sport and Boost) to control how much support the motor provides.

Ride Tuning adds another level of adjustment by allowing riders to refine motor output and assistance response. Instead of relying on a single factory-defined riding feel, you can tune the bike toward a smoother or more responsive power delivery based on your strength and preferences.

The motor supplies the power, while Discover 3's adjustable ride settings help determine how smoothly or responsively that power is delivered.

When the Ride Home Calls for a Slower Rhythm

After a long day, riding more slowly doesn't always mean you want the bike to provide less support.

You may want to reduce your pace while still receiving enough assistance to make starts, hills and longer distances feel manageable. Because Discover 3 separates assisted speed from assistance strength, you can lower the speed setting without necessarily making the bike harder to ride.

You can also switch SensorSwap™ to cadence mode. This can make it easier to maintain a comfortable rhythm without continuously applying strong pedal pressure. You still need to pedal, but the motor response is less dependent on how much force you produce with each stroke.

The five riding modes provide additional control over this experience. Eco asks the rider to contribute more effort, while Tour or a more supportive mode can reduce the physical demand without requiring a higher assisted speed setting.

The result isn't simply a choice between riding fast and riding slowly. It's the ability to decide how much effort you want to contribute at either pace.

When the Route Changes, Adjust the Pace and Response

Urban routes can change quickly. A commute may include open roads, neighborhood streets, crowded intersections and shared-use paths, each calling for a different level of speed, awareness and control.

The Custom Mode in Discover 3 allows riders to adjust the assisted speed from 12 to 28 mph, subject to the settings available for their location. The goal isn't to encourage maximum speed everywhere. It's to give riders more control over the speed up to which the motor continues providing assistance.

Speed is only one part of the adjustment. You can also choose how much assistance the motor provides and how it responds to your pedaling.

That means two rides with the same assisted speed setting can still feel very different:

  • A lower riding mode can create a more active, rider-led experience.
  • A more supportive mode can reduce effort on hills or longer routes.
  • Torque mode can make the motor respond to changes in pedaling pressure.
  • Cadence mode can provide more consistent support while the pedals are turning.
  • Ride Tuning can further refine how smoothly or responsively the assistance is delivered.

This makes it possible to adapt the bike to the character of the route, not only its distance.

When Your Riding Style Changes, Change the Motor's Response

Some riders enjoy feeling closely connected to the bike. Others prefer the motor to provide steadier support with less pedal pressure. Your own preference may also change depending on the day.

Torque Mode: A More Rider-Led Experience

In torque mode, Discover 3 measures the pressure applied to the pedals. More pressure produces more assistance, while lighter pedaling produces a gentler motor response.

This can feel closer to riding a traditional bicycle because your legs continue to shape the pace and acceleration. It can work well when you want responsive starts, more active pedaling or a stronger connection between your effort and the motor.

Cadence Mode: More Consistent Motor Support

In cadence mode, the motor responds when it detects that the pedals are turning. You don't need to maintain the same level of pedal pressure to continue receiving assistance.

This can be useful when reducing effort matters more than having the motor mirror every change in your pedaling. It may suit a relaxed ride home, a longer outing or a day when you simply want the bike to provide more consistent support.

When Your Energy Changes, Comfort Matters Too
